We strive to put God's Love into Action
“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” ~ Matthew 25:40

We work with many organizations across Iowa, the US, and the world to reach out in compassion and love.

Bremwood

Fredsville Lutheran Church has had a strong connection to Bremwood (Lutheran Social Services' residential and out-client counseling programs) in Waverly for several years.  Each Christmas, Fredsville has provided funds for gift items for the  residents at Bremwood. Members of Fredsville also donate money towards school supplies ranging from pencils to backpacks every fall before school starts. Members from Fredsville attend Bremwood’s salad luncheons and donate toiletry items for the residents.

Bremwood is located in Waverly, Iowa.  The youth at Bremwood range in age from 13 to 18  years old.  They  are referred to Bremwood by the Juvenile Court System due to law violations while others are referred by the Department of Human Services to work on behavioral/emotional problems related to past life traumas.  These life traumas  include abuse, neglect or other difficult family situations.

The State of Iowa and parental liability pays for most of  the teenager’s care at Bremwood.  However, there is a gap between what is received and the actual cost of the care.  This gap is filled through the support of individuals and congregations across Iowa.

"Then the king will say to those at his right hand, “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:34-40 NRSV).
